Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to provide RTF Journal services:
- Journal entries and reflections you create
- Account information (email, display name)
- Limited technical data (such as your IP address) processed by Google Firebase for authentication and security
We do not collect:
- Location data
- Contact lists
- Browsing history outside the app
- Biometric data beyond device authentication (Face ID / Touch ID stays on your device)
- Usage analytics or advertising identifiers
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to provide RTF Journal services:
- Providing AI-powered analysis and insights (via Anthropic, OpenAI, and fal.ai)
- Syncing your journal across your devices (via Google Firebase)
- Sending reflection reminders (if enabled)
We never:
- Sell your personal information
- Use your data for advertising purposes
- Allow AI providers to train models on your personal content
Data Security
We implement multiple layers of security:
- Data encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS for all network communication
- On-device encryption via iOS Data Protection (entries are encrypted at rest on your device when it is locked)
- Secure cloud storage with Google Firebase, which provides Google-managed encryption at rest
- Authentication via Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email/password with Firebase Auth
Your journal data is protected by industry-standard transport encryption and platform-level storage encryption. On our servers, data is stored in Google Firebase with Google-managed encryption at rest.
Third-Party Services
To provide AI-powered features, your data is processed by third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Cloud storage, authentication, and hosting. Your journal entries are stored in Google Firebase.
- Anthropic (Claude): Your journal text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate emotional analysis, reflections, and insights. Anthropic does not use your data to train its models.
- OpenAI: Your journal text is sent to OpenAI for automated safety moderation, and entry text is used to generate reflection prompts. OpenAI does not use your data to train its models via the API.
- fal.ai (FLUX): Text prompts derived from your journal analysis are sent to generate images. No raw journal text is sent to this service.
- Apple Sign-In: Secure authentication
- Apple StoreKit: Subscription management
These services process your data only to provide the requested features. Your data is not used for advertising, sold to third parties, or used to train AI models.
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Export all your data in standard formats
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Modify or correct any information
